The pad that shed its sheets
The Story of Our Shop
It started with a memo pad that quietly fell apart in a bag. Our founder carried a small pad everywhere for reminders, but the glue at the head gave out after a week and loose sheets scattered through his bag like confetti. The backing board bent the first time it was pressed, the corners dog-eared, and half the pad was wasted before it was used. Shops across India mostly stocked the same flimsy pads — or imported ones priced far beyond what a jotting pad should cost — so he went looking for makers who bound a pad to actually hold together.
A pad should stay whole until you’ve torn the last sheet — firm padding compound at the head, a rigid chipboard back, and paper that doesn’t crumble at the perforation. But well-built, honestly-priced pads were strangely hard to find: sheet-shedding pads at the bottom, luxury notebooks at the top, and little in between for the everyday writer. Closing that gap — durable, dependable, fairly priced paper and pads — became the whole point of what we do.
Our Inspiration
After months of pulling pads apart across India — checking which binding held, which board stayed rigid, which sheets tore without tearing wrong — assembled our first Paper & Pads range. The thinking is plain: a community of people who want tools that last the job, who’d rather buy one pad that survives than three that don’t.
Our Values
At Marvelle Palace, three values guide every selection:
- Binding that holds. If the head glue fails or sheets fall out, it never makes our shelf.
- Built to be carried. Rigid backing, clean perforation, and paper that survives a bag and a back pocket.
- Transparent pricing. No hidden fees, no inflated markups — quality and build, nothing more.
Our Journey So Far
